Japanese Swordsmanship Seminar – March 2025, at Salt Lake City, Utah
Workshop on Traditional Japanese Martial Arts with Master Takanashi
Master Takanashi Takara is one of the few inheritors of the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi’s Niten Ichi-ryu, a style known for its mastery of both long and short swords. In addition to preserving this tradition, he actively promotes Japanese martial arts both domestically and internationally.
Miyamoto Musashi is the most famous swordsman in Japanese martial arts history. His school, “Niten Ichi-ryu,” is renowned for its two-sword technique, utilizing both a long and a short sword. While his philosophical writings, such as The Book of Five Rings, have been widely studied for self-development, few martial artists have faithfully inherited the techniques of Niten Ichi-ryu, leading it to be called a “phantom martial art.”
